Jo-Ann is a member of the firm’s Real Estate Department.  Her practice involves leasing, sales and acquisitions, development, construction and design professional contracts, telecommunication leases, construction loans and permanent loans, and title reviews.

Representative Transactions

  • Represented retailers in acquisition (including land assemblages), leasing development and construction of big box locations and landlords in strip centers and regional malls.
  • Represented telecommunication provider in drafting and negotiating a master lease agreement involving thousands of sites nationally that was used as a template for other master leases.
  • Represented corporation in acquisition, development and sale and leaseback of headquarters campus including office building and distribution center.
  • Avoided lender’s liability for an over $2 million unfunded construction overage by rewriting estoppel letter requested by general contractor.

Jo-Ann was the moderator at the Boston Retail Summit organized by Bisnow in June, 2011.  She has repeatedly lectured on retail leasing to American Law Institute – ABA; on lease enhancements to International Council of Shopping Centers in January, 2008; on insurance to International Council of Shopping Center in October 2008 and November 2010; on construction of the premises to CLE International in October, 2007; on terrorism insurance coverage to the CoreNet Atlanta in October 2003; and to Real Property Probate and Trust Section of the American Bar Association in April 2002 and April 2003.

Jo-Ann writes and speaks frequently on the topics of leasing, the interplay of telecommunications with real estate, and construction.  Venues have included:
