Tanya’s practice focuses on customs and import compliance and international trade.

Prior to joining ArentFox Schiff, Tanya was an attorney-advisor with the US Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Trade, Regulations and Rulings, where she drafted decisions on tariff classification, country of origin marking, and eligibility for preferential tariff treatment under various trade agreements, with a particular focus on rules of origin for textiles and textile products. During her time there, Tanya regularly advised partner government agencies such as the International Trade Commission (ITC), Department of Commerce, and the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), including providing technical assistance during the negotiation and implementation of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and for a WTO dispute concerning the country of origin marking of imports from Hong Kong. Tanya also served as a US Delegate to the World Customs Organization’s (WCO) Harmonized System (HS) Review Sub-Committee in Brussels, helping shape amendments to the HS, Explanatory Notes, and the Compendium of Classification Opinions.
